K-12 Outreach: Chemistry Programs: Chemistry Lab & Career Seminar
Exciting partnership with Oxon Hill High School:
The activity listed below is part of a series of high school classroom and University of Maryland (UMD) based AP Chemistry activities. Prior to the students’ visit to UMD, MRSEC members visited Oxon Hill High School and conducted a demonstration and laboratory experiment in the classroom.

Chromatography Experiment
Students are guided to the Chemistry Lab to conduct the thin layer chromatography experiment. The lab is the extraction of analgesic components. The students identify an analgesic tablet based on running standards in lab and use the UV light to visualize the samples, Monique Koppel, Andrew Tunnell
