Materials of Sports

This camp caters to those junior high students who have a hybrid of science interest and sports mania by introducing the concepts of material science and demonstrating how they can be applied to various sports. Along with some discussion of how the science has had an impact on various sports, the students will analyze physical properties of various materials to determine: what makes the best ball, what makes the best board, what rolls better and how temperature affects materials. These lessons will be incorporated in hands on activities and explorations that will stress the roll of science and the scientific method.
