Mission Impossible: The Science Behind Spying

Dates:   June 18 - June 22, 2007

Time:   9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Location:   University of Maryland, College Park

Become a MRSEC Special Agent! This camp is designed for students entering grades 6-8 with an interest in problem-solving, team-building and exploring some of the science and technology behind spying. The camp will include:

Topics:

  • Problem-solving activities
  • Team-building activities
  • Codes and code cracking
  • Science of night vision spy equipment
  • Circuits
  • Lasers
  • Much more!

Hands-on Activities:

  • Decipher and create microdot messages
  • Building and disarming alarms
  • Using scientific instruments to gather clues
  • Finger printing and dusting
  • Laser maze
  • Spy missions

Special Features:

  • Field Trip to International Spy Museum in Washington, D.C.
    Field Trip Costs: Spy Museum admission: $16.00, Metro fee: $3.70
